lan | wan
In today's global marketplace, a WAN is becoming as common as a LAN.
Most medium and large business offices these days connect to other remote
offices via either a leased line or a VPN. As outlined in the VPN section,
a VPN offers many advantages over leased lines when setting up a WAN.
The general distinction between a LAN and a WAN is the connectivity between different offices or buildings.
One client, for instance may have 3 offices - one in Los Angeles, Sydney and Toronto.
In order for these three offices to share resources effectively, a WAN is setup using three
firewalls and a meshed site-to-site VPN. These offices are now able to see resources
at either city just as though they were locally.
We invite you to check our Case Studies section for real world examples of technology that we have
successfully employed for our clients.
